E' morto Fausto Duci

Il vincitore del Trofeo Velocità Salita 2006 , è morto in un incidente stradale in automobile nella notte tra venerdì 22 e sabato 23 maggio. Era passeggero di un Smart che ha avuto uno scontro frontale con un Audi. La guidatrice ha riportato ferite non gravi.

Duci era un campione che aveva corso uno dei sogni degli amanti delle corse su strada, la Northwest 200 arrivando alla fine con onore.

Ci mancherai Fausto.

Why?

Because I've go something wrong in my head.

I know well this is a dangerous sport, and I'm very taken up into two wheels safety, so much that I opened a blog about it.

But....

...when I see these people, running on closed roads, with little protections on the walls, aware of the risks they are subjected to, flying free, inches from the tarmac, I feel an endless admiration for their courage, esteem and even feel...affection

Yes... Affection.

Whoever uses his motorbike not only as a vehicle, whoever has a scooter and dreams about a motorbike, whoever has in his eyes that glimpse that takes him with his mind in a thousand miles faraway bend, whoever dreams about the Isle of Man, Macau, the Dakar, american highways, Erzberg, Mugello and whoever doesn't want to stay trapped in a full-of-comforts box of metal for hours and hours, and prefers a stark, anachronistic way of life... well.. Whoever belongs to this set of people, is my brother, and as a brother , I would embrace him.

Surely... a lot of our brothers have left us during time, and their memory stays vivid, as their teaching, but, for each one of the forever departeds,(while doing what they loved most) , thousands more exist, and you can meet them in the middle of a bend, or in the city center, and, although busy driving, maybe while changing gears, while braking, and using the indicators, find always a way to greet you, with a double headlight flash, with a foot, with the forefinger and the middle finger in a shape of a V, only the forefinger for somebody, or.. if to the limits of humas possibility (regarding the numer of phalanxes busy doing other stuff...) greet with a nod of their head.

Whoever feels good, exchanging greetings among bikers, know what I'm talking about...

... expecially if he has tried this in bad weather, in unusual time, and... icing on the cake, if, while in the middle of dozens of cars, in cold and chill, under the pouring rain, at dawn, he sees a stretched out arm with two fingers in the shape of a V, a smile under the helmet and two smiling eyes, just like his.

Eyes like forever young boys, entities that seem to possess the “golden shadow”, people that still can become enchanted by a simple huge passion for two wheels.

This blog borns from the desire of sharing this passion with other bikers or wanna-be-bikers, mainly focusing on road races, unknown to many (and maybe it's a good thing), but so involving and full of fascination to deserve a place, dedicated to them..

Regarding this I'd like to link some sites where to obtain informations and news.

Perchè?
Perchè ho un tarlo nella testa.

So bene che è uno sport pericoloso, e sono una persona molto schierata verso il fronte sicurezza sulle due ruote, tanto da avere aperto un altro blog in proposito (http://accendiilcervello.blogspot.com)

Ma.....

....quando vedo queste persone, correre nelle strade chiuse, con le balle di fieno ai lati, consapevoli dei rischi che corrono, volare liberi a pochi centimetri dal suolo, provo una infinita ammirazione per il loro coraggio, stima, e..persino affetto.

Si... affetto.

Chiunque usa la moto non come un mero strumento di locomozione, o chiunque ha uno scooter e sogna la moto, chiunque ha negli occhi quella scintilla che lo porta con la mente in una curva lontana migliaia di chilometri, chiunque sogna L' Isola di Man, Macau, la Dakar, le highway americane, l'Erzberg, il Mugello, e chiunque non vuole passare ore e ore rinchiuso dentro ad una scatola di metallo con tutti i confort, e preferisce uno spartano e anacronistico modo di vivere.. beh... Chiunque appartiene a questo insieme di persone, è mio fratello, e come tale, lo abbraccerei.
Certo.. putroppo molti fratelli se ne sono andati con il tempo, e il loro ricordo rimane vivido, come il loro insegnamento, ma per ognuno di coloro che se ne sono andati per sempre, mentre facevano quello che più li faceva stare bene, ne esistono mille volte tanti, che si incontrano in mezzo alle curve, o nel centro cittadino, e che, nonostante siano occupati nella guida, magari a cambiare marce, mente frenano e mettono la freccia, trovano sempre il modo di salutare, con un doppio lampeggio, con un piede alzato, con l'indice e il medio a v con la mano sinistra, oppure solo l'indice per alcuni, o.. se proprio sono al limite dell'umana possibilità, (quanto a numero di falangi impiegate in altro....) salutano con un cenno della testa.
Chiunque prova gusto e piacere a scambiare un saluto tra centauri, sa di cosa parlo... ...specialmente se l'ha provato in condizioni climatiche avverse, in orari inusuali, e .. ciliegina sulla torta, se, quando in mezzo a decine di auto, al freddo e al gelo, sotto la pioggia, all'alba, vede sbucare dal nulla un braccio teso con due dita a v, e due occhi che ridono come i suoi.
Occhi da eterni bambini, entità che sembrano possedere "l'ombra d'oro", gente che si fa ancora incantare dalla semplice passione smisurata per le due ruote.

Questo blog nasce dalla voglia di condividere con altri questa passione, ponendo maggiormente l'attenzione alle gare su strada, ai più (forse fortunatamente) sconosciute, ma così coinvolgenti e piene di fascino da meritare uno spazio a loro dedicate.
